An intervention is the process by which a young adult / older adult is struggling with alcohol, drugs, gambling, gaming/internet addiction, sex addiction, and they sit down with family, friends, counselors and/or professional intervention specialists so that they can be shown how their addiction is allowing their destructive behavior to interfere with their life and their relationships. An intervention is about helping this person whom is struggling to choose to seek help immediately.
It is a good idea to use the services of a person trained in the process of interventions. That person can provide the family and friends with the information they need to conduct a thorough and safe intervention. The purpose of an intervention is to convince the addicted person to immediately enter a rehabilitation program, usually in an inpatient facility.
